4 Ways to Shift Your Morning Mindset

Do you find some mornings are just blah? We have all been there and it’s no joke that sometimes those mornings can be rough. A morning routine can be hard to commit to if you are feeling those energetic blocks. For it to be sustainable it takes small steps, and a balance between structure and flexibility. And, it takes practice.

Let’s take a look at 4 bite size ways you can hack your morning routine so that the day ahead is brighter.

A positive morning sets the tone for the entire day. Shifting your mindset can significantly impact how you approach each day.

1. Gratitude Practice:

Start your day by focusing on the positive aspects of your life. Cultivating gratitude can shift your mindset from scarcity to abundance. Take a few minutes each morning to reflect on things you’re grateful for. What are you looking forward to today? What thoughts make you happy about the ahead? This could be as simple as the warmth of sunlight or the taste of your morning coffee. This practice helps create a positive foundation for the day ahead. Right now, I am on a sugar detox (day 3). I can tell you that my morning breakfast is seriously what brings a smile to my face right now. Waking up to the face of my little one brings me such joy. The smell of coffee and the peace and quiet (sometimes) in the morning calms my nervous system and allows me to centre for the day ahead. What brings you a sense of peace in the morning? What brings you joy and lights up your morning for the rest of your day?

2. Mindful Morning Routine:

Design a morning routine that aligns with your well-being. Incorporate activities that bring you joy and tranquility. Whether it’s meditation, stretching, or reading, these mindful practices can set a calm and centered tone for your day. I really encourage you to step away from your phone first thing. Being overstimulated by the news, social media or messages can effect how we feel about the day ahead. I like to try and get in 15 minutes of yoga each morning before anything. Just a simple stretch and grounding routine for my body has such a positive outcome. By prioritizing self-care in the morning, you equip yourself to face challenges with a clearer and more positive mindset.

3. Positive Affirmations:

Integrate positive affirmations into your morning routine. Affirmations are powerful statements that reinforce positive beliefs. Choose phrases that resonate with you and repeat them aloud. This can boost your self-confidence and set a positive trajectory for the day. It is so easy to Instead of dwell on negative thoughts, and they can create a compounding effect. Think about a couple of positive phrases that boost your mood and perspective and write them down. They can be your focus for the month ahead. Write them on a post-it note and place them on your mirror or your fridge. Read them and say them out loud. For months I have 3 affirmations on my fridge written on post-it for my son and I. “We are love,” “we are abundance,” and “we are healthy.” I saw them everyday and felt that they were such great reminders. What affirmations resonate with you for the day, week, or month?

4. Embrace Flexibility and Resilience:

Life is unpredictable, and mornings often come with unexpected challenges. Hello mamas! I see you and I hear you. Being adaptable is my armour. If you can adopt a mindset that embraces flexibility and resilience, you are golden. Instead of letting setbacks derail your day, view them as opportunities for growth. By cultivating resilience, you build the mental strength needed to navigate challenges with a positive outlook. Remember that setbacks are not failures but stepping stones to success. If your day is not starting out the way you imagined, see it as an opportunity for growth instead of restriction. Maybe this is the universe pointing you in the direction you need to focus your intention. Perhaps it is a message for you look within and refocus? What coping strategies do you use when your day is starting unravel? I find this can be a tough one because I am a person that makes lists, plans etc. I get discouraged easily when I cannot get to the things I had planned to do. However, unless it’s not on my priority one list, it can wait until tomorrow. What I mean by this is….I create a priority one list (I have to do this today), and a priority two and three. Two can be done within the next couple of days and three can be done next week. So, if all else fails and nothing gets done, my list isn’t so big after all. I like to remember that I can always ask for help too, and delegate!

I hope that these hacks help you move ahead in a positive way to start your day. Let me know in the comments. I would love to hear if you have tried them, or if you have morning life hacks you would like to share. Remember to start small, be consistent, and watch as these mindset shifts gradually shape a brighter and more optimistic outlook on life. an awesome day mamas!
